Stop Popping Your Pimples: How to Get Rid of Your Acne

Acne Treatment, Glenn Dale,MD Whether you call them pimples, pustules, acne, puss marks, or anything else—acne is acne and most people have at least a little bit of it. Here at Callender Cosmetic and Dermatology Center, we specialize in treating a variety of cosmetic and medical skin conditions such as acne to help patients like you get clearer, better-looking skin.

What Is Acne?

There are many things that could be leading to your acne including the air that’s around you or the habits that you have (like touching your face). Typically, however, we can narrow down the cause of chronic acne to either hormones or bacteria on the skin. During your initial consultation with us, we will do a brief evaluation to see if we can spot the cause. Then, we may do additional testing.

How Is It Treated?

Once we have determined the cause of your acne, then we can discuss treatment options with you. Depending on your health and the root of your acne, treatment may include:

●Aerolase LightPod Neo Laser-A laser treatment to help target and fight all types of existing acne; no matter how chronic it is.

●Topical Medications-Topical medications like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide help patients stabilize oil production and kill bacteria on the skin.

●Antibiotics-Topical and oral antibiotics can help patients fight off acne-causing bacteria.

●Accutane-This prescription medication works to reduce the secretion and production of oil in the skin.

●Blackhead Extraction-Blackhead extraction should only be done by a professional. During this procedure, one of our skincare experts will extract existing blackheads from the skin to help clear up the complexion. ●Microdermabrasion-Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure that gently exfoliates the skin to get rid of acne scarring and balance facial oils.

●Photodynamic Therapy-This treatment uses a combination of medications and light therapy to target and kill acne-causing bacteria

●Skin Care-A combination of skin care products can treat existing acne and prevent new acne from starting
