Frequently asked questions about Coolsculpting treatment
- Posted on: May 30 2020
Improving body contours used to be a job for plastic surgeons. But now, with advances in the medical industry, patients can now address their body contours and reduce unwanted fat with cryolipolysis. Cryolipolysis is the leading way of non-invasively reducing fat on the body by essentially freezing the cells and letting the lymphatic system naturally flush them out of the body. This results in less fat deposits and improved body contours. With Coolsculpting, patients have access to this same technology at Callender Dermatology and Cosmetic Center. Many patients have questions about Coolsculpting:
How does Coolsculpting work?
Coolsculpting freezes fat cells in the treatment area and then allows the body to flush them out via the lymphatic system. Because of the process required, the results from Coolsculpting are gradual. Patients will notice the changes happening over time, typically over the course of several months following their first appointment.
How many treatments do I need?
Though one treatment session will provide results, patients are encouraged to undergo several treatments over a few months to obtain optimum benefits.
Does Coolsculpting require surgery?
Absolutely not! The primary benefit of Coolsculpting treatment at Callender Dermatology and Cosmetic Center is the ability to achieve results without having to visit a plastic surgeon. The treatment is done on the skin above and penetrates below to target fat cells. Patients with extremely large areas of fat deposits, however, may still be considered a better candidate for liposuction or other surgical means of fat removal with a plastic surgeon.
Will the results be noticeable?
Results occur over time as the body flushes out the frozen fat cells. Because of this, the results are not immediate. Most patients who undergo a few sessions of Coolsculpting in the midsection will often drop a full pant/dress size within a few months. This is a noticeable change for many, and with continued treatments, patients can achieve even better results!
